Spanish Contemporary Art Network

Nacida en Madrid en 1976, trabaja como Responsable de contenidos de Matadero Madrid donde ha comisariado el programa de intervenciones site specific Abierto x Obras en el que han participado artistas como MP & MP Rosado, Cabello / Carceller, Jordi Colomer, Carlos Garaicoa, Los Carpinteros, Cristina Lucas o Fernando Sánchez Castillo. Es la creadora de proyectos como Archivo de creadores de Madrid (www.archivodecreadores.es), El Ranchito (http://elranchitomadrid.wordpress.com/), Here Together Now (www.heretogethernow.org) o el Programa de pensamiento de Matadero Madrid. Dicho programa aglutina los grupos de investigación colectiva: Decolonizing knowledge and aesthetics (junto a la Goldsmiths University of London), Ecología, nuevo territorio y paisajes en cultura contemporánea (junto a Campo Adentro) y Microondas (sobre Educación disruptiva junto a Pedagogías invisibles).

 

Su práctica profesional podría definirse como la creación de marcos curatoriales en los que trabajar de forma colectiva con otros comisarios, educadores, arquitectos, artistas, críticos, pensadores o ciudadanos. En dicha práctica mantiene una relación fluida con otras instituciones afines tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. Es miembro de IKT, International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art y mantiene relaciones de trabajo con centros de arte de Helsinki, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, Nueva York, Estocolmo, Estambul, Ciudad de Méjico, Sao Paulo, París, etc.

 

Ha sido adjunta a la dirección y coordinadora general de La noche en blanco, donde ha comisariado proyectos como Una noche para una obra (2007) o Gabinete de cultura digital (2006) y Plaza Pública (2006). Ha sido asesora de Apoyo a la Creación en el Área de las Artes del Ayuntamiento de Madrid y ha colaborado habitualmente como periodista en medios como El País, Vanity Fair, Descubrir el Arte o Calle 20.

 

Licenciada en Sociología por The London School of Economics y MA en Periodismo por El País / Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, es autora del libro Arte Emergente en España / Emerging Art in Spain (2007) y ha co-dirigido el Curso de Gestión Cultural de la Universidad Carlos III-Círculo de Bellas Artes (2008 y 2009). Además, fue miembro fundadora de la herramienta de agitación cultural Ladinamo (http://www.ladinamo.org/) donde se responsabilizaba de la programación cultural de su espacio ubicado en el barrio de Lavapiés (2004-2006).

Born in Madrid in 1976, She is currently the  Head of contents for the art center Matadero, Madrid where she curates the program of site specific interventions ‘Abierto  x Obras’ ( Open for works), which has counted with the participation of artists such as MP & MP Rosado, Cabello / Carceller, Jordi Colomer, Carlos Garaicoa, Los Carpinteros, Cristina Lucas and Fernando Sánchez Castillo. She is the creator of projects like Archivos de creadores de  Madrid (www.archivodecreadores.es), El Ranchito (http://elranchitomadrid.wordpress.com/) Here Together Now (www.heretogethernow.org) or the Matadero  Think Tank program in Madrid. This program brings together a series of collective research groups: Decolonizing knowledge and aesthetics (with Goldsmiths University of London), Ecology, landscapes and new territory in contemporary culture ( with Campo Adentro) and Microwave (on disruptive Education with  Pedagogías invisibles).

 

Her practice could be defined as the creation of curatorial frameworks to work collectively with other curators, educators, architects, artists, critics, thinkers and citizens. In her practice , she maintains a close relationship with other related institutions both nationally and internationally. She is a member of IKT, International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art and maintains working relationships with art centers in Helsinki, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, New York, Stockholm, Istanbul, Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Paris, etc.

 

She has been asistant director and general coordinator for ‘La Noche en blanco’, where she has curated projects like One night for a play (2007) or digital culture Cabinet (2006) and Public (2006) Plaza. She has consulted for Creativity Support in the Area of Arts of the City of Madrid and has regularly worked as a journalist in media such as El Pais, Vanity Fair, Discover the Art and Calle 20.

 

She holds a degree in Sociology from The London School of Economics and MA in Journalism from El Pais / Autonomous University of Madrid, is author of ‘Arte emergente en Espana / Emerging Art in Spain’- (2007) and has co-directed the course Cultural Management of Universidad Carlos III-Circulo de Bellas Artes (2008 and 2009).She was also a founding member of activists  cultural movement  Ladinamo (http://www.ladinamo.org/) where she was responsible for the cultural program of its space located in the neighborhood of Lavapies (2004-2006).
