Ryan Rivadeneyra (Miami, 1984) vive entre Barcelona y Ámsterdam. Realizó sus estudios en la Cooper Union de Nueva York y la Städelschule de Frankfurt, y actualmente está completando el máster de bellas artes en la Sandberg Intituut de Ámsterdam.

 

Entre sus últimas exposiciones se encuentran 5 Explosiones de un Ford Pinto en La Capella, FACTOTUM en la Fundació Tàpies, o Verde Chillón en el MACBA y para Secció Irregular en el Mercat de les Flors, todas estas en Barcelona, y Grain, Wood, Flax, Turf en Voorkramer Lier, Bélgica, There was an Opening, the Carpet was Squishy en Flat Time House, Londres, The Second Act en De Brakke Grond, Amsterdam, o Sugary Photographs with Tricks, Poses and Effects en Novylon, Amberes. Fue artista residente en Hangar Centre de Producció en Barcelona entre 2012 y 2013, y ganador de la modalidad obra del Premi Miquel Casablancas 2013.   

 

Su trabajo reciente plantea preguntas sobre la identidad cultural y las interacciones humanas, entre otras cosas. Una serie de narrativas fluctúan entre anécdotas ficticias e históricas, que usan tanto el humor y la ironía como la sinceridad más profunda para así cuestionar las experiencias cotidianas. Informaciones y recursos se mezclan como vegetales en un wok o personas en una piscina pública.

Ryan Rivadeneira (Miami, 1984) lives between Barcelona and Amsterdam. He studied at Cooper Union in New York and Frankfurt Städelschule, and is currently completing a Master of Fine Arts in Amsterdam Intituut Sandberg.

 

Among his latest shows are 5 blasts a Ford Pinto in La Capella, the Fundació Tàpies FACTOTUM or Verde Chillón at MACBA and Secció Irregular in the Mercat de les Flors, all these in Barcelona, Grain, Wood, Flax Turf in Voorkramer Lier, Belgium, There Was an Opening, the carpet was squishy in Flat Time House, London, The Second Act in De Brakke Grond, Amsterdam, or Sugary Photographs With Tricks, Poses and Effects in Novylon, Antwerp. He was artist in residence at Centre Producció Hangar in Barcelona between 2012 and 2013, and winner of the play mode of the Premi Miquel Casablancas 2013.

 

His recent work raises questions about cultural identity and human interactions, among other things. A series of narratives ranging from fictional and historical anecdotes, using both humor and irony as the deepest sincerity to question everyday experiences. Information and resources are mixed as vegetables in a wok or persons in a public pool.
