Julia Mariscal (Barcelona 1981) cursa sus estudios universitarios en Londres. Es Licenciada por la Universidad de Goldsmiths College y Master en Fine Art por el Chelsea College of Art and Design.

 

Mariscal trabaja la performance, la instalación y el dibujo. La artista concibe yd esarrolla los elementos en escena como un trabajo de escultura expandida. En un instalación erguida con materiales inorgánicos, como el cristal o la piedra, y otros de origen biológico que remiten el cuerpo, como la leche, el cabello, la sal o la cera.

 

En su último proyecto Ocells-textos-onades (Pájaros-textos-olas) apuesta por el carácter inestable y dúctil de estos elementos, por la posibilidad de moldearlos y transformarlos en escena. Se han presentado recientemente sus trabajos performantivos en el Teatre Lliure de Barcelona (ciclo Katharis), y en el Centro del
Carmen de Valencia (Fragmentos que representan el mundo, comisariado por Diana Guijarro).

 

Ha expuesto de forma individual en Miquel Alzueta y Franco de Toledo, en Barcelona, Oblong Gallery de Londres y en Grand Palais, Suiza. Ha expuesto en colectivo invitada por los comisarios Sema D’Acosta, Lorena Muñoz-Alonso, Carolina Grau yAlexandra Laudo. Su trabajo se ha mostrado en festivales como Art Souterrain,
Montréal y Winter Light, Oxford.

Julia Mariscal (Barcelona 1981) pursues her university studies in London. She has a degree from the University of Goldsmiths College and a Master in Fine Art from the Chelsea College of Art and Design.

 

Mariscal works on performance, installation and drawing. The artist conceives and develops elements on stage as an expanded sculpture work. The performace becomes an installation with inorganic materials, such as glass or stone, and others of biological origin that remit the body, such as milk, hair, salt or wax.

 

In his latest project Ocells-texts-onades (Birds-texts-waves) she speculates on the unstable and ductile character of these elements, on the possibility of molding them and transforming them into a scene. Her performative works have recently been presented at the Teatre Lliure in Barcelona (Katharis cycle), and at the Centro del Carmen de Valencia (Fragments that represent the world, curated by Diana Guijarro).

 

She has exhibited individually at Miquel Alzueta and Franco de Toledo, in Barcelona, ​​Oblong Gallery in London and in Grand Palais, Switzerland. She has exhibited in a group show invited by the curators Sema D’Acosta, Lorena Muñoz-Alonso, Carolina Grau and Alexandra Laudo. Her work has been shown at festivals like Art Souterrain, Montreal and Winter Light, Oxford.
