'Towards silence'- Carla Andrade

Aldama Fabre is pleased to present towards silence, the new solo show by Carla Andrade.
The exhibition take shaped from poetic works that Andrade creates from her research with the look of her personal encounter. The silence as vital beginning, as the germ of the artistic creation, and in other cases as the result.
The reflection about the void, in her investigation, is where the creative process takes place. Her practice starts with the reflection about silence and ends with the encounter of it. Creating a landscape which keep the viewer suspended on a state of sublime.
Before to focus on the visual art we want to highlight the way the artist uses the music, In how she intends the concept of silence as absence of sound. Beethoven said once: “Don’t break the silence, unless you can improve it”, after that, John Cage was loyal with the piece 4´33”. Cage demonstrates with his artwork, created from a random number, the wait. The impatience need of the spectators who is waiting for a sound, a noise, rythm of life in the composition. This sensation who generates bewilderment when we are waiting and we follow when we haven’t it. It is this desire that we perceive from the monochrome landscapes of Andrade.
The first time I observed her artwork, I felt this endless silence that transmits relax at the same time the sensation of the wait. You feel, as public, how she focus you towards the calm, towards the calmness.
The artist creates and abstraction that is a mediation of the contrasts in the negatives of the images. Her artworks are the result of the experiences made in the places she travels to, while looking for the best way of capturing the absence. For her the photography is an extention of the reality. Those are the places that Carla Andarde talks about, the places where she begins an eternal journey with her gaze, building her personal language made of empty space filled with silence.

La muestra se configura a partir de piezas poéticas que Andrade crea a partir de la búsqueda con la mirada del encuentro personal. Silencio como punto de partida vital, como el germen de la creación artística, y en otros casos, como el resultado. Comenzamos desde el vacío en esta investigación, donde se produce el inicio de la creación artística, cuya obra parte de la reflexión (en silencio) y finaliza con el encuentro de este.
Antes de centrarnos en el arte visual queremos hacer hincapié en la música, en cómo el concepto de silencio es entendido como una ausencia de sonido, Beethoven dijo "Nunca rompas el silencio, a menos que puedas mejorarlo" y le fue fiel a ello John Cage con su pieza 4´33". Cage demuestra con su obra, creada a partir de una cifra al azar, la espera. La necesidad impaciente del público de sentir un sonido, un ruido, un halo de vida en la composición. Esa sensación que genera desconcierto cuando no lo esperamos y que perseguimos cuando no lo tenemos. Es ese anhelo que se percibe a través de los paisajes monocromáticos de Andrade.
La primera vez que observe su obra, sentí ese infinito silencio, que transmite tranquilidad a la vez que espera. Sientes, como espectador, como te enfoca hacia la calma, hacia el sosiego. Parte de una abstracción mediada por los contrastes y los negativos de las imágenes. Sus piezas son el resultado de experiencias en las que viaja buscando la manera idónea de capturar la ausencia, dónde utiliza la fotografía como una extensión de la realidad. Allí donde emprende viajes internos con la mirada construyendo un lenguaje propio, un vacío, lleno de silencio.
