'EUROPE'- MARCO GODOY first solo show in the UK

Focusing on the visual and symbolic relationships between authority and power, Spanish artist Marco Godoy (b. 1986 Madrid) analyses the social and political ramifications of the real and fictional divides that make up the European Union. In his upcoming exhibition at Copperfield, Godoy works with sculpture, installation, and photography to explore the concept of Europe’s boarders.
Presenting these divides as a construction of authority, Godoy’s work illustrates the peculiarity of differences in basic legal rights such as labour wages that change within a matter or meters from one country to another. Attention is also drawn to the way the actual geographical divide removes those in the United Kingdom from the full effects of issues such as the refugee crisis.
Marco Godoy has studied Fine Arts at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and is a graduate of the Royal College of Art (2014). Following his recent group exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou and Palais de Tokyo, The exhibition Europe at Copperfield, London will be Godoy’s first solo show in the UK. Centrándose en las relaciones visuales y simbólicas entre la autoridad y el poder, el artista español Marco Godoy (Madrid 1986) analiza las consecuencias sociales y políticas de las divisiones reales y ficticias que conforman la Unión Europea. En su exposición en la galería Copperfield, Godoy presenta escultura, instalación y fotografía para explorer el concepto de fronteras de Europa. La obra de Godoy ilustra la peculiaridad de las diferencias en los derechos legales básicos, como los salarios de mano de obra que cambian en cuestión de metros de un país a otro. También prestan atención a la forma de la brecha geográfica real que elimina al Reino Unido de los efectos completos de cuestiones tales como la crisis de refugiados. Marco Godoy estudió Bellas Artes en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y se graduó en el Royal College of Art (2014). Después de sus recientes exposiciones colectivas en el Centro Pompidou y Palais de Tokio, La exposición Europa en la galería Copperfield de Londres será la primera exposición individual de Godoy en el Reino Unido(Copperfield Gallery Nota de prensa)
