Kir Royal Gallery se complace en anunciar su próxima exposición “LANDSHAPES” con los artistas Ernesto Canovas, Chus García Fraile y Keke Vilabelda. Nacido en Barcelona en 1971 Ernesto Canovas vive y trabaja en Londres. Graduado en 2011 con un máster en la Slade School of Fine Arts de Londres y una licenciatura en el Edinburgh College of Art. Ganador del Premio de Stevenson para la pintura del 2010, en el mismo año fue seleccionado por la Real Academia Escocesa para la exposición New Contemporaries. Participó en una impresionante lista de exposiciones colectivas y individuales en el Reino Unido, los EE.UU. y Europa. Las obras de Canovas se basan en imágenes culturales de la historia reciente y de la vida contemporánea. El punto de partida de su proceso artístico es una “cosecha visual”, la recopilación de imágenes de fotografías vintage y de los medios electrónicos, y la aplicación de éstas a la madera. Él se basa en el patrón de las fibras de la madera, trabajando con el grano para descubrir y sugerir ritmos y ecos. Las pinturas de Cánovas presentan formas brillantes y abstractas que refuerzan esta sensación de movimiento dinámico. Su enfoque de múltiples capas proporciona profundidad perceptiva y fuerza emocional a su obra misma. Chus García Fraile (Madrid, 1965) vive y trabaja en Madrid y se ha convertido en una artista de renombre internacional. Conocida por la pintura, donde ha desarrollado un estilo impecable, ella trabaja de forma multidisciplinar, cómodamente fluctuando entre la fotografía, el dibujo, la escultura, el vídeo y la instalación. Ella utiliza el arte como un lenguaje y no diferencia entre una y otra técnica o material, sólo apela a su potencial comunicativo. A través del arte recodifica esos detalles que en su opinión constituyen y representan nuestra realidad, el así llamado “estado de bienestar”. Chus García Fraile está constantemente cuestionando las condiciones cotidianas de nuestra sociedad: la construcción excesiva y la consiguiente especulación inmobiliaria, el culto a los objetos, la frontera delgada entre lo privado y público. Keke Vilabelda nació en Valencia en 1986, donde vive y trabaja. Graduado en la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, estudió desde 2010 hasta 2011 en la Universidad de Bellas Artes de Londres y obtuvo un MA en el Central Saint Martin School of Art and Design. Ha ganado muchos premios de arte como el Certamen Cultural Virgen de las Viñas y la beca a la investigacion pictorica del premio BMW de pintura. Trabaja con diferentes medios de comunicación en soportes como el metacrilato o el cemento. Esta interesado en el paisaje en todos sus enfoques. Su investigación no sólo afecta a la forma de ver el paisaje, sino también la forma de construir un paisaje, cómo configurarlo. En este sentido Vilabelda mira a la arquitectura y a las estructuras artificiales como a los escenarios cuidadosamente planificados y diseñados para nuestro consumo. Desde esta perspectiva, el paisaje urbano se entiende como una simulación, un producto adulterado desarrollado de acuerdo a patrones estandarizados y construidos capa por capa, que crean una infinita variedad de repeticiones modulares.

Kir Royal Gallery is pleased to announce its next exhibition “LANDSHAPES” with the artists Ernesto Canovas, Chus Garcia Fraile and Keke Vilabelda. Born in Barcelona in 1971 Ernesto Canovas lives and works in London. Graduated in 2011 with a MA from the Slade following a BA from Edinburgh College of Art. Winner of the Stevenson Award for painting 2010 in which year he was selected by the Royal Scottish Academy for their New Contemporaries exhibition. He participated at an impressive list of group and solo exhibitions in the UK, the USA and Europe. Canovas’ works are based on cultural images from recent history and contemporary life. The departure point of his artistic process is a visual harvest, gathering images from vintage photographs and electronic media, and applying these to wood. He relies on the pattern of fibers in the wood, working with the grain to discover and suggest rhythms and echoes. Canovas’ paintings feature bright, abstract shapes that reinforce this sensation of dynamic movement. His multi-‐layered approach lends perceptual depth and emotional moodiness to the artist’s oeuvre. Living and working in Madrid, Chus García Fraile (Madrid, 1965) has already become an internationally renowned artist. Coming primarily from painting, where she has developed an impeccable style, she works in a multidisciplinary way, comfortably fluctuating between photography, drawing, sculpture, video and installation. She uses art as a language and does not specially make difference between one and another technique or material, only appealing to their communicative potential. Through art she re-‐codifies those details that in her opinion constitute and represent our reality, the so-‐called welfare state. Chus García Fraile is constantly wondering about the daily conditions of our society: the excessive construction and the consequent housing speculation, the worship to the objects, the thin frontier between private and public. Keke Vilabelda was born in Valencia in 1986, where he lives and works. Graduated at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, he studied from 2010 to 2011 at the London University of Arts and got a MA at Central Saint Martin School of Art and Design. He won many art prizes as the Certamen Cultural Virgen de las Viñas and the BMW grant for painting research. He mainly works with different media on methacrylate or concrete. He is interested in the landscapes in all its approach. His research affects not only the way of looking at the landscape, but also how to build a landscape, how to configure it. In this sense he looks at architecture and artificial structures as the scenarios carefully planned and designed for our consumption. From this perspective, the urban environment is understood as a simulation, an adulterated product developed according to standardized patterns and built up layer by layer, creating an infinite variety of modular repetitions.
